During the Industry Revolution time, the amount of land that a country have conquered symbolizes the power of a country. Just like how we saw the western country before, they dominate almost all part of the world just to show their power and their strength to the eye of the eye of the world but that was all in past where the western thought that it was a white man’s burden which is their responsibility to civilized all country. Nowadays, the strength or the image of a country was not measured by their amount of lands nor gold but the knowledge of the country itself.
University was one of the education instituition that was one of the most important aspect in order to build a great country. There are many courses offered in every university for the student, but the question is, should university student have complete freedom to choose their own courses?.
Based on my opinion, i would say no on this. This is because, if a student have that kind of freedom, they won’t fulfill the needs of their country. For example, if a lot of students choose to study in medicine field than other courses such as business or law, this will produce an imbalance human resources on the country. As we know that lot of peoples want to take medicine to become a doctor, well of course a doctor can save people lives but can we imagine a world without engineers,lawyers or architect? it’s going to be one tough life to live in dat kind of world.
The other reason is not all students capable of mastering every type of course that their want to take. If we took example of a software programmer profession, it requires great knowledge or skills on mathematics or calculus, but if the student don’t have this kind of requirement and at the same time have all the freedom to choose their courses, it will only become worser hence rupturing the economy of a country.
Besides that, students sometimes can’t make the best judgement in their life especially teenagers. They only know what fun and enjoying for them instead of thinking their future and their fate at the end of their life, what are they going to end up, what he will do then, no, but just thought about the fun being a youth. By restricting their freedom to choose their course, this will make them to study the course that is best for them for a better future
of the country.
In a nutshell, university student shouldn’t have the complete freedom to choose their own courses as this will only create more consequences than benefit for the sake of economy and image of a country.
