ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAY
Does modern technology make life more convenient, or was life better when technology was simpler?
Modern technology does make life more convenient. As a matter of fact, nowadays, technology plays an important role in people's life, to extent they cannot imagine their lives without the role of technology, simply, because they live in the speed time. As technology development advances, the level of living standard increases. The life forwards wonderfully, we have fewer opportunities to waste our time and strength. Other sides may has their own opinions, and argue that technology have interrupted our life and others already. The facts is, technology will keep improving and developing, no matter you agree with it or not.
In my opinion, technology changed our life into a simple and easy situation without doubts. We can really save our time and energy since technology has been improved and developed. There is no query that humans have had benefited by it. There are unaccountable information could come with technology, dreams could be realized by technology, wealth and property could be obtained with technology, and many others. Modern technologies really bring us a more convenient life compared to days with simpler technologies. For instance, we can search for anything that we do not sure about through the unlimited network. Works can be done in a short while, problems can be solved easily, and the most important is that things that we will not know easily can be learned from the net without fuss. All these are caused by the modern technologies we had. Technology is not only an abstract word in our cognition, but a process that involves everyday human lives.
Nowadays, ways of locomotion such as car, motorcycle, train, and airplane, has facilitated our lives. We could visit somewhere we want to go easily, since people has invented automobile and continually improving it. We could get to many areas and reach the other side of the earth, because of people has invented air craft and developed it well. Centuries ago, the main way to travel a long distance was the ship, or the horse. Today, the airplane is the most useful way to make fast travels, which gives to us more time. For example, comparing with the ship which usually crosses the Atlantic Ocean in one or two weeks, the airplane can easily cross it in about 10 hours, and is still the safest way to travel in the world.
The computer is one important feature from technology, which is very used by people in order to increase their knowledge. Books are no longer the main way to improve the understanding of a specific matter. Universities are acquiring more and more computers to facilitate the student's life, and to provide faster information. Students are using the Internet a lot more, which gives to them the right information without the need to go to a library. For example, a person needs to do a research about a matter, and then instead of going to the library, this person could gather good and diversify information using the Internet. Consequently, they would finish their research faster than doing it in the library by hand. Thus, technology, which created the computer, has definitely helped the universities and the students to get a better knowledge. Improvements in technological hardware systems such as computer’s programmers and softwares ensured greater productivity and quality of product output as it increases the efficiency of the worker. Thus, when quality of product output increases, there will be greater sales and revenue and this will contribute to the economic prosperity of the society.
Other benefits of modern technology include the advancements in communication and entertainment, which has allowed us to transcend time and space at hyper speeds and communicate globally. It enables us to maintain interpersonal relationships and expand our social network with social networking websites like Facebook, Twitter and Myspace. Networking help peoples with busy life not to drift apart from each other. People can easily hold together with the network. They can chat on the net, viewing each one’s web camera and calling from one’s computer to the other for free! This keeps them keeping in touch in their busy days. Especially for parents that worry much about their children who studied abroad, they can now talk to their children and seeing their face with just a click. There is even new communication programmes such as mobile “friend finder” to pinpoint the exact location of your friends. It also enables the expansion of businesses and increases international trade as time and space difference can be overcome through interchangeable dealings online.
Nobody can deny that the advancement in technology over the years has made our lives easier. It is proven that technology exists with countless advantages. We should be optimistic about it, and keep assisting and enjoying everything technology has brought to our life. There is not argument that modern technology does make our modern life more convenient.
